Did you buy a shiny new laptop / PC sold nowadays with a copy of Windows 10 recently? Do you see your laptop slow down or applications lag? Then read on to see how 10 easy tweaks can make your laptop faster!
1. Restart your laptop or PC
Yes, you’ve heard it right. Windows 10 is designed to clear out unnecessary files and logs when you shut it down. But if you’re one of those who leaves their laptop to sleep mode always, try shutting it down and restarting it. You might see some noticeable improvements right away!
2. Update your Windows 10 regularly
Windows 10 is designed to silently auto-update your laptop or PC on the background while you work on it. However in some cases, this can get stuck at someplace.
Open the Windows 10 menu and type ‘Update’ in the search bar. Then click ‘Check for Updates’ to access your settings
Ensure auto-update options are checked in the above screen and if there are pending restarts, fire them away. When you do the latter, ensure your laptop is plugged into your charger and don’t touch your keyboard until the process is completed!
3. Remove unwanted Startup Programs
Your PC or laptop loads all your startup programs when you boot up your Windows 10 system. While this is a nifty feature, it can get bogged down pretty quickly. Remove those unwanted programs by following the below steps
Open Task Manager by pressing (Ctrl + Alt + Del) keys together. Then click the ‘Startup’ tab to see the list of startup programs.
Pay close attention to the ‘Startup Impact’ values for each program e.g. ‘High’ as this is a good way to spot apps that are likely to slow your system down.
Identify those unwanted programs that are causing High Impact and mark them as “Disabled”. That’s it!

In your search bar, type “System Settings” and press Enter Key.
Click “Settings” button in the “Performance” Section
Remove the tick marks against the effects that you don’t want. Start with the ones that say “Fade” or “Animate” and work your way from there.
